Student AI Art Contest
Introduction:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has grown tremendously within the last 10 years. Well-known examples include self-driving cars, game prowess including Go, Chess, and various Atari games. Recently Stable Diffusion, and other AI-based programs, have captured the headlines with their ability to transform text into spectacular pieces of art. In 2018 a recent AI-generated portrait sold for $432,500 [1]. In 2022
To acknowledge these advances in AI, Drs. Boetticher and Datta are sponsoring an AI Art Contest open to all full-time (SP23) students at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. This is the first AI Art Contest ever held in the state of Texas. This contest allows students to unleash their creativity using a program called Stable Diffusion (Additional links below). Participants of the competition will be eligible for cash prizes along with their work being displayed in the Delta building. The Delta building houses the Computing Sciences and Engineering departments.
