Installation Artifacts |
Installation Artifacts refer to the software and documented instructions required to install the product. |
Role: | Implementer |

Input to Activities: | Output from Activities: |
The purpose of the installation artifacts is to enable someone to install the product.
Installation Artifacts are created in the Construction Phase and updated through the Transition Phase.
The Implementer implements the installation scripts and writes the installation instructions.
Installation artifacts are needed if installation programs will be used to configure the system in the deployment environment. If the software is deployed only once (as is the case with many systems built by a company for internal use on a corporate server), installation artifacts may be omitted.
In a system where the end user is expected to install the product, the
Installation Instructions can be included in the user's guide. For a more
complicated installation where qualified service staff are needed, there needs
to be a separate installation description.
