SPREADSHEET RISK TRACKING

What Is It

Spreadsheet risk tracking is a method of summarizing and documenting project risks in a spreadsheet format and periodically reviewing risk statuses. Spreadsheets, along with other risk reports as supporting materials, can be included as part of regular project (weekly or monthly) meetings for risk statuses and updates. They should be adapted to project's needs, concise and easy to read, but should contain enough information to help personnel make informed decisions.

When To Use

Use this method
  • When a concise and easy to read format is needed for risk information (to support project status meetings). For complex risks where detailed information is needed for review and discussion, Risk Information Sheets or other forms of detailed risk reporting may be required.
  • To track assigned risk and plans and develop status reports.

Benefits

This method
  • Provides a concise and easy to read risk information and status format (to facilitate group meetings and risk tracking).
  • Provides a history or sequence of activities on project risks for reference.
  • Is flexible and can be tailored to specific project's or organization's needs.
