Configuring a PDF Reader

You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF files. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free.

If you have Acrobat Reader, but it is not available to your browser, you can do the following.

If you are using Netscape Navigator Version 4, you must place the Acrobat Reader (acroread on a UNIX system) in your PATH, and then inform Netscape where it is by doing one of the following.

If you are using Netscape Navigator Version 3, you must place the Acrobat Reader (acroread on a UNIX system) in your PATH, and then inform Netscape where it is by doing the following.

  1. Select Options | General Preferences | Helpers.
  2. Select the line that starts with application/pdf.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Select Application and enter the path for Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  5. Select OK twice.

If application/pdf does not show up in the list of helpers, select the New button and enter:

Then select Application and enter the path for Adobe Acrobat Reader.
