ObjectStore Release 5.1 Installation Overview

Before beginning your installation of ObjectStore Release 5.1, you need to consider a number of factors.

• How many of the components do you intend to install?
  
• Do you intend to install the online documentation?
  
• How much disk space will the components you want to install require?
  
• Will your databases be file system or rawfs databases?
  

System Requirements

Windows:

Intel 486 or Pentium-based machines with at least 20 MB of RAM running Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3

Development requires Visual C++ 5.0 or Visual C++ 5.0 with Visual Studio Service Pack 3, and the ActiveX interface requires Visual Studio Service Pack 3.

Solaris 2.51 or 2.6

Disk Space Requirements by Component

For Windows: 28 MB for all components except on-line documentation. See the Installation and License for Windows for more information.

For Solaris: 40 MB for all components except on-line documentation. See the Installation and License for Solaris for more information.

For Windows: 20 MB

For Solaris: 22 MB

ActiveX: 16 MB

Component Server Framework

For Windows: 13.5 MB

For Solaris: 4 MB

UNIX Platform On-line Documentation Space Requirement: 100 MB

Windows Platform On-line Documentation Space Requirement: 80 MB
