Undergraduate / Graduate Research Assistant Positions

 

Ø  Responsibilities -

o   Administer and configure computers, networks, and applications for teaching and research projects.

o   Assist the CSI Director and staff in CSI-related activities, including sending email announcements, scheduling activities, etc.

o   Participate in a research and development project. Sample projects include but are not limited to:

o   Evaluate and design a network with virtualization

o   Deploy mechanisms to secure both physical and virtual networks

o   Test network applications in the developed networks

o   Evaluate BYOD impact on network security

o   Survey topics of interest related to Cybersecurity

o   Develop tutorials, user manuals, and course modules for dissemination

o   Make short (one hour) public presentations about cybersecurity issues and methods

Ø  Required Qualifications -

o   Self-started and enthusiastic in getting the jobs done!

o   System administration skills in Linux (heavy) and Windows environments.

o   Interested in learning networking (switch, router, and firewall configuration).

o   Good verbal and written communication skills (or strongly interested in learning those skills)

o   Interested in learning about computer security, networking protocols, and software development

Ø   Preferred Qualifications -

o   Good academic standing

o   Interested in pursuing research and publishing refereed papers

Ø  Start of Appointment - May 2017 (with possible continuation in the following semesters, depending on performance and funding); appointment level is 50% FTE (20 hours per week).
