SERVER NETWORK

Include Active Directory server, Domain Name System server, Access Control server and Demilitarized Zone Web server

Provide network services such as authentication and accounting service, web and transfer service to student workstations

Control and manage access to all network equipments within DCSL network

Protected by router IOS firewall and CISCO PIX firewall 151e against internal and outside attacks.

TESTBED NETWORK

Include Authentication server, Domain control server, Web server, Honeypots System, Virtual Private Network and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server

For faculty staffs and students to conduct researches relating to network security issues.

Provide network access, authentication and IP address to wireless workstations.

Protected by router IOS firewall and two intermediate router access control service against internal and outside attacks

TEACHING NETWORK

Include workstations with wired and wireless connectivity for teaching/learning.

Protected by router IOS firewall and two intermediate router access control service against internal and external attacks

Provide network environment for student to implement projects

Provide file storage service.Internet web and file transfer service to students.

VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK

Use Cisco Virtual Private Network Concentrator server to control network access.

Provide secure network access to remote users and users from other private networks such as University of Houston Downtown network.

Provide secure access to DCSL network services by using IP security and Layer 2 Tunneling protocols

User access will be authenticated with Cisco Access Control server

WIRELESS NETWORK

Wireless access points are deployed in the Delta Building, to form a WiFi network (IEEE 802.11g)

Each of the workstations in the Teaching Network is equipped with a 802.11g wireless adapter,allowing them to communicate with each other.

An authenticated user may use a wireless computer to access the WiFi network, through access to the backend servers and the Internet are granted.
