Meet the UHCL Cybercorps Project Team

  • Dr. T. Andrew Yang
    Principal Investigator

    Dr. Yang has many years of experiences in managing collaborative research projects, including NSF-funded projects and research projects funded by other agencies. As the director of the Cyber Security Institute and an Associate Professor, he is experienced in managing projects that involve collaborative researches, curricular development and delivery, and organizing public forums presented by cybersecurity specialists. He has, in the past 14 years, taught several security courses in UHCL, and will adapt course materials from those courses when developing the Network Security module and the undergraduate Network Security course.

  • Dr. Wei Wei
    Co-Principal Investigator

    As an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS), her research interests include Social Media Analytics and Security of IoT Systems. She is an Associate Director of the Cyber Security Institute and has been heavily involved in cybersecurity-related research, teaching, and outreach programs conducted by the CSI. She created and led the Cybersecurity Summer Camps at UHCL for local high school students. She was also a CISSP associate. She teaches undergraduate and graduate CIS core courses, in which various aspects of cybersecurity are embedded. Dr. Wei is also actively involved in curriculum design in the Department of Computing Sciences at UHCL.

  • Dr. Kewei Sha
    Co-Principal Investigator

    As an expert in Networked System Security, Dr. Sha has published more than 30 papers in prestigious conferences and journals. Actively serving leadership roles in the field, Dr. Sha has worked as conference and workshop chair, and journal guest editor; he also served as the secretary of IEEE Technical Committee and organized security-related workshops in conjunction with international conferences; Dr. Sha has taught several courses related to Cybersecurity and Network Security.

  • Dr. Sadegh Davari
    Faculty Liasion

    Dr. Davari is a Professor of Computer Science at UHCL with extensive experience in teaching, research, and administration. He has successfully managed several large, externally-funded research projects. Dr. Davari’s leadership experience includes nearly a decade as the chair of the Computer Science program and as the chair of the Division of Computing and Mathematics in addition to three years as the interim Dean of the School of Science and Computer Engineering.

  • Dr. Michelle Peters
    Evaluation Specialist

    Dr. Peters, an Associate Professor of Research and Applied Statistics, is a research specialist who co-directs the external evaluation team for the U.S. Dept. of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers spanning 54 states and territories. She has worked on several funded grants addressing interventions across varying settings. Dr. Peters will commit 1 month FTE annually to the project.

  • Dr. Wenliang Du
    Project Evaluator

    Dr. Du, has many years of experience in security education. He has been teaching cybersecurity since 2001. Moreover, over the last 14 years, he has worked on a project called SEED, which produced 30 hands-on lab exercises for security education. The hands-on activities are based on his widely adopted SEED Labs, which are by over 800 institutes worldwide.
